The world premiere of Circus of Books, written and directed by Rachel Mason will take place at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. This playful feature documentary film about the titular store and their unlikely owners, the filmmaker’s parents, Karen and Barry Mason, answers the question ‘how do you explain to your friends that your mom and pop run a gay pornography shop?’ For over 35 years, Circus of Books was owned and run by Karen and Barry Mason, who at point were one of the biggest distributors of hardcore gay porn in the United States.
