On Repeat: Malia Civetz’s debut single Broke Boy

Here at The Queer Review towers we’ve had one track on repeat the past few days, rising songstress and vocal powerhouse Malia Civetz’s debut single Broke Boy. Backed by a bold piano and hard-hitting handclaps, Malia’s traffic-stopping voice takes centre stage as she declares her lover is “not a billionaire baller or dough boy” but “he know how to gimme the O boy” and shares that he “took me on a trip with just the tip of his tongue“. Does he have a friend?

In the song’s video, cruising in a classic car surrounded by “broke boys,” Civetz takes over downtown Los Angeles showing that her love don’t cost a thing. Listen to Broke Boy HERE.

Malia is currently putting the finishing touches to her debut EP for Warner Records. Between inimitable vocal runs and stellar songwriting, she shares a sex-positive and body-positive message of self-love in her music with a whole lot of attitude.
