The Royal Court marks 50th Anniversary of Stonewall Riots with Queer Upstairs

As part of Pride Month, London’s Royal Court Theatre has announced Queer Upstairs, an evening of rehearsed readings of new short plays by queer writers curated by Hester Chillingworth and Mark Ravenhill.

The evening, which marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising in New York, will feature works by a broad selection of queer writers and theatre-makers such as Nick Bruckman, Lettie Precious, Iman Qureshi (writer of Home Girl, selected for the 2019 edition of BFI Flare), Rachael Young and non-binary artist Hester Chillingworth.

Casting has yet to be announced.

The details: Queer Upstairs will take place at the Royal Court’s Jerwood Theatre Upstairs on Monday 17th June at 7.30pm. Tickets have now sold out, but returns may become available. We recommend keeping an eye on Royal Court Theatre’s website and social media channels for more updates.
