It was announced today that the Welsh-born, NYC dwelling artist Bright Light Bright Light, aka Rod Thomas, will open for the legendary Cher on various European dates on her current Here We Go Again tour.
Bright Light Bright Light, who has previously opened for the likes of Elton John, Erasure, Scissor Sisters and Ellie Goulding will join Cher in Europe from 26th September until 17th October 2019 opening for her shows in Berlin, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Munich, Cologne, Mannheim, Hamburg, Copenhagen and Stockholm.
Speaking exclusively to The Queer Review today, Rod Thomas said: “Cher is one of my favourite artists. The Believe album was one of the soundtracks to the years where my friends and I came out to each other back in Wales and we danced to all the singles in the nearest gay bars every week. But beyond that, her catalogue is timeless. One By One is one of my favourite songs, and she’s also in some of my most beloved films Witches Of Eastwick, Mermaids and Moonstruck (predictable choices I know!!). She’s a true living legend, and it’s unbelievable to be joining her on the road – having just seen her show in Brooklyn wishing I could see it again…and now I can! 9 times!!”
