Black Queer Town Hall hosted by Peppermint & Bob the Drag Queen June 19th – 21st

A three-day virtual Black Queer Town Hall event from NYC Pride in conjunction with GLAAD, hosted by Peppermint and Bob the Drag Queen, begins today at 6:30pm ET, aimed at supporting and raising funds for Black queer organizations and LGBTQIA+ performers.

Black Queer Town Hall Day 1: Reflection

Streamed on Facebook and YouTube, the event will feature performances, roundtable discussions and fundraising opportunities for #BlackLivesMatter, Black LGBTQ organizations, and local Black LGBTQ drag performers. Replacing NYC Pride’s Pride 2020 Drag Fest, this event shift focus to centre Black queer voices. Diverse LGBTQ voices will discuss pathways to dismantle racism and white supremacy, and demand an end to police brutality. Among the impressive list of names already announced as contributors to the event are Laverne Cox, Alex Newell, Todrick Hall, Monét X Change, Shea Diamond, Kizha Carr, Angelica Ross, Heidi N Closet, and Mj Rodriguez.

Viewers can contribute directly to each of the Black drag performers during their scheduled performance time and can also contribute to organizations run by and serving Black LGBTQ people. The event will also pay homage to the queer people of colour who started the revolutionary riots at Stonewall in 1969 and other Black LGBTQ trailblazers who have advanced equality for all.
