LGBTQ critics to reveal award winners at virtual Dorian Film Toast 2021 on Revry Sunday April 18th

GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics will reveal its award winners during its first annual Dorians Film Toast special airing Sunday April 18th at 8pm ET/5pm PT on streaming service Revry hosted by Karel, with a pre-show starting at 7:30pm ET/4:30pm PT.

Presenters set to appear include Lee Daniels, Cheyenne Jackson, Rosanna Arquette, Gabourey Sidibe, Cynthia Nixon, Jharrel Jerome, Rafael Silva, Harmony Valle-Ramirez, Margaret Cho, and Charo who will present the award for Campiest Flick.

National treasure Leslie Jordan will receive the society’s Timeless Star career achievement honor, while writer-director-actress Isabel Sandoval will accept the inaugural GALECA Trailblazer Award.

The organisation, comprising 280 professional journalists, was founded in 2009 with its Dorian Awards in previous years combining television and film. Lee Isaac Chung’s Minari leads with six nominations, including Best Film and Best Foreign Language Film, followed by Nomadland with five nominations, plus that film’s writer-director Chloé Zhao is also in the running for the group’s Wilde Artist Award honouring “a truly groundbreaking force in entertainment”.

Among the LGBTQ+ films that received nominations are the narrative features AmmoniteThe Boys in the BandI Carry You With MeMa Rainey’s Black BottomSupernovaUncle FrankFilippo Meneghetti’s Two of Us, and the documentaries A Secret LoveBorn to Be, and Mucho Mucho Amor: The Legend of Walter Mercado; with Sam Feder’s Disclosure and Welcome to Chechnya receiving nods in both the Best Documentary and Best LGBTQ Documentary categories.
