This week at live ceremony in Los Angeles, GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics announced the winners in its 2026 Dorian Film Awards. Ryan Coogler’s thrilling period horror epic Sinners dominated the night with a total of seven wins, including Film of the Year and Director of the Year for Coogler, who was also named Wilde Artist of the Year by GALECA’s membership, the world’s second largest entertainment journalists organization.

This year’s awards event, sponsored by Tello Films, saw Rose Byrne take home the Dorian for Film Performance of the Year for her turn in festival darling If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, while Amy Madigan earned Supporting Film Performance of the Year for indelible role in Weapons. New Queer Cinema veteran Gregg Araki was named LGBTQIA+ Film Trailblazer Award for his decades-long commitment to fearless queer storytelling, with Kaboom star Thomas Dekker accepting the Dorian on his behalf and delivering a powerful speech.

The writer-director star of Sorry, Baby, Eva Victor, was named GALECA’s Rising Star and also won the Dorian Award for LGBTQ Screenplay Of The Year. While LGBTQ Film of the Year was clinched by Harry Lighton’s Pillion and the Dorian for LGBTQ Documentary of the Year went to Ryan White’s Come See Me in the Good Light.

Legendary performer Tim Curry, celebrated for his timeless work in classics such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show, was honored with the group’s Timeless Star Award, in recognition of an “exemplary career marked by character, wisdom, and wit.”
“This year’s Dorian Film Award winners represent the best and most promising that the world of film has to offer,” commented GALECA President Walter Hickey. Adding, “GALECA’s members have long recognized daring and adventurous art and the distinct, visionary artists responsible for it, and this year is no different.”

“In an era when spectacle often eclipses substance, Sinners reminded us that a blockbuster can also be strong, political, and profoundly human,” observed GALECA Executive Director Diane Anderson-Minshall. “Our members were struck by its fearless storytelling, its powerful ensemble performances, and its examination of community, resilience, and moral complexity across histories too often pushed to the margins. The sweep at this year’s Dorian Awards reflects a rare alignment of critical admiration and cultural urgency, and reminds us why cinema still matters.”
2026 Dorian Film Awards event sponsor Tello, the 19-year-old streaming platform dedicated to LGBTQ women’s content, produces and distributes authentic, independent films and series that center queer women’s stories and expand meaningful representation.
