With the fourth and final season of the hit series Never Have I Ever created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher now streaming globally on Netflix, The Queer Review’s editor James Kleinmann spoke exclusively with the show’s lead cast Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Jaren Lewison, Darren Barnet, Lee Rodriguez, and Ramona Young about saying their goodbyes to the series.

Lee Rodriguez, who has played Fabiola Torres across the four seasons, shared her thoughts on seeing a queer character who is loved, supported and accepted by her fellow high schoolers, saying “I think that’s awesome and something really cool to see on screen and it’s inspired so many other people to be able to come out.”

“I think characters like Fabiola are very necessary and important”, Rodriguez continued. Reflecting on the final season, the actress added, “I really enjoyed the whole college process and all of us not really knowing where we’re going to end up, then everything ending up in a really happy place.”

Rodriguez’s co-star Ramona Young, who portrays Eleanor Wong on the show, revealed details about her character’s prom costume in season four, saying: “I love my prom look; the makeup, the hair, and the gown. It was inspired by Anna May Wong and so a lot of the elements were incorporated from old Hollywood. I was so excited.”
